Alarming Dropdown in IQ Level of Three Developed Countries

Research study and analysing historical data by Kanaya et al. (2018) found that from 1974 to 1991 nearly 20% were mentally retarded out of 9000 sample size. The critical situation of dropping IQ is shown in the graph. The study also found that IQs of people in Australia, UK and  Denmark have been significantly declining in the last 4 decades. University of Hartford research study by Kanaya  also claimed that most of the global population will become less intelligent with a drop of around eight IQ points till 2110.  And IQ is dropping rapidly in developed countries.

YouTube, tiktok and sharing online content has distracted the children and parents from real grooming patterns and book reading habits. Overloaded information has affected parent-child relations. This has resulted in dropping IQ levels.

“Rich Habits: The Daily Success Habits of Wealthy Individuals ” book by Thomas Corley studied habits of 233 rich and 128 poor. His research statistics showed that 67% of successful and rich people don’t watch T.v more than an hour eachday. There are some successful people who have a book reading habit.

1. Bill Gates

Bill Gates reads 50 books a year. Gates shared that he travels or meets with anyone, but reading is the main way where he learns new things and tests his conscious understanding. He always has a book wherever he goes.

2. Elon Musk

Successful businessman Elon Musk taught himself to build rockets by only reading books, as he was a physics graduate. He followed his goal to acquire specific knowledge. He says that he learned how to earn. Book reading habits helped him with what he wanted to learn.

3. Warren Buffet

Mr. Buffet told his keys to success are 500 pages of reading every day. knowledge worked and helped him to build up compound interest. 

Buffet calls himself a Book-Billionaire. He started his career as an investor. He still spends 80% of his day reading. 

4. Mark Cuban

Mark Cuban reads 3 hours a day. He says that he grew by reading and one good idea would pay for the book. Books help to take stepforward or not. He explains “I feel like if I put in enough time consuming all the information available, particularly with the net making it so readily available, I can get an advantage in any technology business,”

5. Tony Robbins

Tony Robbins is an American strategist, author, coach, speaker, and humanitarian. He is known for his seminars, infomercials and self-helping books like Unlimited Power, Awaken the Giant Within.

He was the child of an alcoholic mother and abusive father. Parents get divorced. He made friendship with books. His hunger for books and devotion make him a successful leader. 

Optimizing Reading Habit  to Improve Kids IQ

Emotional and academic intelligence depends on reading, either academic or non-academic literature (Okwilagwe, 1998). This study sounds old, but the latest studies have proved that weak students do not have reading habits. When a kid becomes able to read, this is his first step towards intelligence, performance and advancement.

Unfortunately, the new generation prefers technology gadgets and social media instead of learning new and reading in relaxed hours (Obaidullah & Rahman, 2018).

The research studies has shown that reading habits are related to:

  • Home environments & cross-cultural issues (Chen & Yang, 2014)
  • Technology gadgets & social media
  • Poverty
  • Nutritions 
  • Traditional beliefs
  • Lack of being practical
  • Family background

  • Career oriented parents.

  • Reading in front of child
  • Talk about “what I read today?”
  • Keep it simple and make reading fun
  • Preserve Bedtime Story habit in kids 
  • Develop reading habit since childhood
  • Less use of technology gadgets in front of kids
  • Love for bookkeeping and give books as reward

Conclusion 

Research studies found an alarming dropdown of IQ in the young generation for 3 decades. Humans will become less intelligent by 2110. Excess use of technology gadgets & social media, unhealthy nutritions and career oriented patents are main causes of concern for less IQ kids. Developing the reading habit in kids can save generations from lowering IQ levels.
